Quick Home Updates for Spring!

I started thinking today that it's time for a Spring Spruce up.  I know it's only March but spring will be here before we know it. Between my design work, volleyball practice, home schooling and a mound of other things I sometimes don't feel like working on my house. Here are a few "SIMPLE" and "EASY" ways to make your home feel like Spring fast.

#1 FRONT DOOR MATS

Try the layered look everyone is doing right now with door mats. There are so many styles to choose from.  You can transform your space by using just a few pieces. Set your mood before you even walk in the door.

#2 FRONT DOOR WREATHS

If you're gonna buy some new door mats you might as well throw up a new wreath too.  Your door is the first thing you see when coming home so set the mood by adding these simple yet spring"ish" beauties to your entry. FYI-the big wreaths with gobs of ribbon strung all through them and floral picks are out. Try a simple yet natural looking approach this spring.

#3 "Pouf" It's Spring

If you don't have a pouf in your home add one, and if you do have one switch it out with a "NEW" spring colored one. These are a fun and easy way to add a pop of color anywhere and they are pretty handy too.  My hubby stacks his books or feet on ours and it's been known to fly across the room on occasion (those darn kids).

#4 Pillow, Pillows, Pillows

As most of you all know the easiest way to add some color to your home is through pillows. Start off with a basic white or off white (depending on your color palette).  Use this for your largest pillow (preferably 26x26 or 24x24) and start to stack from there. Some people like 2 pillows on each side some like 3. It's really up to you and what your space allows.

Don't be afraid to mix and match patterns and colors. Not everything has to be so matchy matchy.  You can add a fun lumbar pillow to your couch and change your look instantly. If you try one pillow and it doesn't look good then try another. Just because the first one didn't work doesn't mean the next one won't.  Trial and error is the name of the game with design. Don't FORGET that!

#5 Spring Stems

Most of us have some vases around the house with some greenery in them. If not get one or two. This way you can change out your foliage throughout the year.  I love putting cedar branches in mine during the Holidays and dried
in the summer. Depending on your look you can find just the right stem for you. If you want a more natural look ditch the artificial stems and find some fun branches in your yard, back yard or park.
